Brad Oberg

Co-Founder and CTO, IBACOS

brad obergAs Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of IBACOS, Brad oversees the construction research and consulting services the company provides to production homebuilders, building product manufacturers, and state and federal government. Brad is responsible for ensuring that IBACOS’ quality assessments and confidential coaching services will enable production homebuilders to increase the quality and performance of their homes. With extensive experience in product development, the manufacturing process, testing, and evaluation, he also provides guidance to the technical efforts of IBACOS’ advanced and applied research team, which is a key contributor to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America program.

Previously, Brad has been president of the Energy Efficient Building Association. In that role, he guided the creation of the premier training source for residential building science and construction technologies. At the Libertyville Research Center for USG Corporation, Brad led a New Products Laboratory, contributing to improvements in Durock® cement board systems, prison security constructions and high attenuation communication vaults, and composite construction materials for residential applications.

Brad has been involved in construction research since the early 1970s, investigating fire performance, life safety, product design, and manufacturing issues at Owens Corning Research Labs. Brad is a member of the American Institute of Architects, The U.S. Green Building Council, BOCA, ICBO, and NFPA. He received his Master's degree in Architecture from Ohio State University and his Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Lehigh University.
